An Invitation to: The Best Day of My Life
Just a few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to win $500 in the lottery. I was really a shock and very unexpected. A simple five dollar scratch off. When I first looked at it I thought it was a five dollar winner and just went “üm hmmm”! That's because I had just remarked to the check out clerk that I should stop playing these silly things because the best I ever do is even exchange,
I tossed the scratch off to the side and went to my email. About a half hour later it dawns on me that I read five hundred dollars, not five dollars. I snatched that scratch off up and looked again. Sure enough! I'd won $500.00. Oh Boy!
Later, I was driving back to town to collect my winnings and I got to thinking about the old saying “the best day of my life”. You usually only hear that when people talk about who they married or a child being born, sometimes a goal getting accomplished or disease being cured. The Urban Dictionary says: the best day of my life:
The day in your life where the best possible thing could happen to you, so good, nothing better could ever happen to you. WOW!
I really couldn't decide why I wasn't more excited by this wonderful windfall, so I asked myself, “Is this the best day of your life”? That's exactly the moment that God answered my question for me. He said “Everyday I give you is the best day of your life! Everyday you have the free will to make it the best day of your life. Declare it every morning when you wake and choose to make it the best day of your life”!
I instantly broke into a smile and my heart soared. God is always right and knowing this, simply did, make it the best day of my life.
The next morning when I woke up I thanked God for the best day of my life and proceeded to have the best day of my life. The following morning same thankful declaration, the same result, the best day of my life.
I noticed that day by day everything was better. I was living better overall, getting more accomplished and happier than I've been in a long time and I'm a pretty happy grateful person. You really can't get angry or upset or ill in the middle of the best day of your life. There is simply no room for it. Harsh thoughts or words just don't fit in. I feel kinder and more compassionate and I am, I laugh more. I am grateful for the day. I relish my life now and even though it was pretty darn satisfying before the last month, it's a super-charged zesty life now. Thank you Lord!!
I will never take a day of my life for granted again. I will not mourn lost time or feel bad that I missed so many great days because that just doesn't fit into the best day of my life. I will anxiously look forward, minute by minute, living each day as the gift that it is and simply enjoy the best day of my life.
I do not have a corner on this best day market. God gives you the same day, each day and gives you the free will to make it the best day. Give it a try when you wake up in the morning and I guarantee it will change your life forever.
